演習Ｉ テーマ「古代文明と文化における普遍性（universality）と特殊性 (particularity)」

２． テーマ：「日本の古典演劇芸能」(Traditional Japanese Theatre)

３． 演習の内容および進め方：

日本の古典演劇芸能　≪能、文楽（洋瑠璃）、歌舞伎≫の素晴らしい特殊性（particularity）をテキスト及び映像で購読と勧学しながら、世界中の演劇芸能の傑作に比較して、演劇としての普遍性(universality)を学ぶ。

授業計画：

前期　――15世紀の演劇――能の紹介　と傑作「翁」｢忠度｣　「隅田川」などを購読してその魅力を探る。英訳に比較する。

後期――17世紀の演劇――文楽の紹介　と傑作「義経千本桜」「心中天の網島」などを取り上げる。続いて17-18 世紀の演劇歌舞伎を楽しませよう。傑作「仮名手本忠臣蔵」「京鹿の子娘道成寺」「白波五人男」などを見る。英訳に比較する。

成績評価：出席：10%、授業中の発信：10%、e-mail:　20%、オーラル発表：35%、学年末試験：25%

授業計画平成 (First term schedule, Second Term schedule) １６年ー１７年

授業概要

基礎演習の根本概念（文明と文化は何か）に続いて、人間に常に貢献してきた面（普遍性）と、時代及びそれぞれの文化がもっとも大事にしてきた五つの表現（文学、美術、音楽、言語、社会と宗教）のユニークな面（特殊性）を講義―インターネット検索―情報処理―オーラル・レポート（口答形式）等の方法で次のトピクスを中心に授業を進める。各分野においてそれぞれ日本語と英語で一回づつ講義する。後期に授業中発表形式を取る。

Following on the theme of the first year Practicum course ‘What is Culture and Civilization?’, this second year course on the universal and particularistic aspects of world culture continues the listening and information gathering aspect begun in year one, and adds oral presentation and project organization as its special characteristics. Lectures will be given in both Japanese and English on the following five major areas of cultural expression:

1.) 文学―西洋、アジア、日本を問わず、文学類（詩、散文、劇）の世界傑作の普遍性と特殊性。

2.) Literature: A borderless approach to world classics of poetry, prose, and drama and the universality and/or unique qualities they possess.

3.) 美術―西洋、アジア、日本の建築、彫刻、絵画でみる文化の普遍性と特殊性。

4.) Art: The universality and particular contributions to world culture of architecture, sculpture, and painting in the West, Asia, and Japan.

5.) 音楽―ヨーロッパと日本の音楽伝統―音を通す人間感覚の普遍性と特殊性。演奏実習を含む。

6.) Music: The musical tradition of Europe and Japan-particularity and universality through sound as human expression. Will include performance.

7.）言語―言語表現の文化―なぜ英語・日本語を通して普遍性と特殊性があるのでしょう

か。

8.) Language: The particularities and universality of language, with particular emphasis on English and Japanese.

9.) 社会・宗教―宗教および社会秩序の生む文化表現。性別役割分担と信仰システム。

10.)Society/Religion: The cultural expressions of societal organization and religion.

Gender determined social roles, and systems of belief.

成績評価の方法

出席：１０％、授業中の発言：１０％、e-mail発信感想：２０％、発表：３５％、学期末試験：２５％

指定はしないが、英語、日本語の資料（図書およびインタネット通信物）を配る。
