授業概要 １３ー１４回の講義を通して、日本古典文学の傑作(８世紀―１７世紀)を取り上げる。授業の目的は原文と口語訳（たまには英訳）を読みながら、文学性を分析する。日本文学の特殊性と普遍性を世界文学の伝統の中で考え、日本文学が持つ立場と評価に焦点をあてる。 This course provides students with 13-14 lectures on the classic literary masterpieces of Japan from the eighth to the seventeenth centuries. My aim in the lectures is to reveal, through reading and analysis of the most important works of poetry and fiction, the central concerns of Japanese literature. Through short readings, students will become familiar with essential passages and statements, and through analysis, students will discover unique aspects as well as unchanging universality to be found in Japanese literary works from a comparative standpoint. I will use English translations of Japanese literary works to provide an international viewpoint. 授業計画 次の作品を取り上げる：古事記ー７１０年、万葉集―７５０年、竹取物語―８８４年、伊勢物語―９０１年、 土佐日記―９３５年、古今和歌集―９０５年、蜻蛉日記ー９７４、枕草子―１００２年、方丈記―１２１２年、新古今和歌集―１２０５年、平家物語―１２４２年、徒然草―１３３３年。時間が許せば、世阿弥元清の時代より一つの謡曲（山姥など）、近松門左衛門作心中物一曲も紹介する。 The following works will be under discussion: Ｋｏｊｉｋｉ ( Record of Ancient Matters)710，Manyoshu (Collection of a Myriad Leaves)750, Taketori monogatari (The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter)884, Tosa nikki (The Tosa Diary)935, Ise monogatari (The Tales of Ise)901, Kokin wakashu (Collection of Ancient and Modern)905, Kagero nikki (The Gossamer Years)974, Makura no soshi (The Pillow Book of Sei Shonagon)1002, Hojoki (An Account of My Hut)1212, Shinkokin wakashu (New Collection of Ancient and Modern)1205, Heike monogatari (Tale Tale of Heike)1242, Tsurezuregusa ( Essays in Idleness)1333.
