HEIAN NO MIYABI

(COURTLY ELEGANCE - JAPANESE COURT ATTIRE)

On Tuesday, May 27, 1997, the Royal Ontario Museum proudly
co-sponsored, as part of a city-wide celebration marking Asian Heritage Month, an
evening in the ROM Theatre on which the Cultural Foundation on Promoting the National
Costume of Japan, direct from their headquarters in Tokyo, showed costumes worn in the
Japanese court. A lecture and commentary with live models provided a spectacularly colourful
show. On Sunday, 25 May, the Eaton Court showcased a family-oriented show of fabulous kimono
fashions from today's Japan. For more complete coverage of these events and others pertaining to the visit
of the Hakubi Kyoto Kimono School, start by clicking on the date and the venue.
